Some things are scary

Goblins, bats, ghosts, ugly masks, presidential candidates... some things are very scary. The leaking ceiling was one of those things! Especially when it was right after another pipe sprung a leak- overflowing into the garage and required fixing. But the master bath was scarier; there is tile in there and the only way to access those pipes is through the kitchen ceiling.

I always tell the kids people are scared of things they don't understand. I, myself, did not understand why water was leaking from the bathroom shower into my kitchen, or why there was mold on one of the beams. It turns out the seal that was around the shower drain is about 20 years old- go figure, that's the age of our home. A good, kind man from our ward came and showed us that and how to take it out and reseal it with plumbers putty. Presto- the leak is fixed. A little bleach spray will take care of that beam that got wet when the seal started cracking on the shower.

I'm not afraid of that leak anymore. Mostly because it's not leaking anymore and that leads me to believe I understand it- unless it starts leaking again.

The thing no one wants to tell

Yesterday Kaiden came running into my bathroom yelling, "Mom, turn off the shower! It's leaking!" Tony took a light out of the ceiling in the kitchen and stuck the camera up there to take a picture of what was going on,-in hopes of not having to cut a hole in the ceiling, I'm sure. This is what we found. We're not sure what it means, but it can't be good. Bleach spray, anyone?

Conference weekend

Don't you just love conference weekend? It always seems like such a cozy time at home. Of course there was lots of baking and cooking going on during the listening, but on Saturday we also had a little building right in our living room. The whole weekend makes me long for more Saturdays at home. But alas, sports always seems to intrude about sun-up every darn Saturday! The weekend was wonderful. The bonus? Kaiden learned how to hammer with his non-dominant hand!
