Trick or Treat!

The Halloween fest around our house was pretty much the Harvest Festival. We really missed Kelsey this year, but we did manage to have some fun while she left us all and took off for Catalina Island for the weekend- lucky girl! (The bad part is that means she's big enough to start junior high next year) = (

Here is a picture of our first trick or treater of the night- Kaid the skeleton! His costume boasted the feature that it glowed in the dark- which I'm sure had nothing to do with the fact that he HAD to have that costume =).

The night was complete as Kaiden helped dress up Bella. Thend his friend, Max- along with Bella, went trick-or-treating with us. They made quite a trio. Kaiden made out with a good deal of candy and even got to hand some out to his friends when he was done collecting himself.

Halloween Bash

Friday night we had the ward Halloween party we've been helping work on for weeks. It was THE COOLEST party to hit Halloween since 1926. Oh, maybe not, but it was pretty fun. Kaiden was the glow in the dark bag of bones of the party. Kelsey was the "vampire teen"- turned Miss Muffet by the end of the night when we were cleaning up. Tony was the rocker/ jail attendant, and I stole the show as the Diva. Aunt Maya and Uncle Ron graced us with their presence- Ron was the hero as the photographer of the show, Maya helped me hand out glow-in-the-dark vampire teeth at the carnival outside, and by the end of the night most of the crowd got arrested at Tony's jail. It was fun to spool the kids by filling the pinata with fake spiders and bugs instead of candy, and to top it all off, Tony took first place in the ward's cornbread champ competition!

It was hoppin' around here

Forty five slices of football spider cake, 1 giant sports bounce house, an easy up with tables, a Halloween filled pinata, hot dogs and chips, a kiddie pool filled with water, ice, squirt guns, and Capri suns, an ice chest of soda, and too many little boys to count all adds up to
a whole Saturday filled with fun. Happy birthday, little man. We hope you enjoyed this party enough that we never have to invite that many little chickens to our house at the same time again. In fact, we're still tired from all that!

"Thanks for the tight trick bike!"

Birthdays are a fun tradition at our house. After everyone gets ready in the morning you get to come downstairs and open all your presents! Then we head out for a donut before work and school. So Kaiden got up this morning and we asked him to go help us with something in the garage. It took him a minute to see the shiny new bike right in front of him.
Last fall Costco had a fancy bike- Tony pointed out to Kaiden that it had stunt pegs and spin-able handle bars which allowed for tricks. Sadly, through his birthday and Christmas the kid was just too small to ride it. We tried in the store a couple of times, but even with the seat all the way down, it wasn't happening. I was almost positive he was more impressed that this bike had a kickstand than the other features. Then after he opened the ultimate in hot gifts- a triple pack of Bacugan- he was in heaven. That's when he looked at me and said, "Thanks for the tight trick bike and the Bacugan." Ahh, the word tight- did any of you know that was back? My baby is growing up. I wish I could keep him small and ever ready to give me kisses just a little longer. But here he grows- 8 years old. And, in case you didn't know, "trick" bikes and Bacugan are "tight."
