The story of the garage

Home study number one- of what will then be six total.

The fist time someone comes out for the homestudy they make sure your house is "safe" for kids and tell you all the things you need to do to prep it for approval. Then they give you 30 days. Well, with a foreclosure we have neglected to put away a lot of things in the garage. A lot of it is attic stuff, but some is just all that stuff- chemicals, books, paper towels... So we already built these fabulous cabinets (well, put them together) and filed them with everything toxic- household cleaners, bug sprays, lawn chemicals, car washes, the works. And we put up these other shelves to hold all the household stuff, and I thought we were doing pretty good. Tony had even put up this (see picture) tv, video player, and video game system on top of a mini fridge complete with some game chairs for the kids. Actually it started out as the tv and stereo for him when he's working out there, but the kids took it over.

Long story short, our homestudy says we're not allowed to have any boxes or tools in the garage. So we've been cleaning everything out. And I even put garage floor paint down on the floor to protect it- after sweeping and blowing off the dirt.

Hmm... didn't work out so well. We parked on it after it dried and look what happened! It all peeled off when we drove on it! Turns out you actually have to strip the floors before you pain them! I don't know how we're going to get all that off to strip it! Anyway, one third of the garage is now complete and hopefully after next Saturday you'll get to see the rest of it done!!! Anyone ever clean your garage in 100 degree weather? Classic experience.
